Carmelites and Little Lites

What are we up to this year? 

Autumn

Welcome Mass – Chaplains greet families and assist with offertory.

Organise and lead Rosary Club at lunchtime.

Support St Teresa Feast Day Mass (1st Oct) – readings and bidding prayers.

Promote CAFOD Harvest Fast Day – create posters and lead reflection.

Prepare and lead prayers for Remembrance and Holy Souls. (Pupil Parliament)

Help with Operation Christmas Child boxes. Children to gather up the boxes from the classes and load them in to the cars to be taken for collection.

World Youth Sunday (23.11.25)- linked to St John Paul II. Children to lead a short explanation and refection session during Monday’s Friday’s Gospel assembly (21.11.25)

Lead Advent Pilgrimage of the Jubilee Year of Hope Candle.

Support Advent liturgies- teachers to organise for House Captains to support class Carmelites/Little Lites greeting the parents/setting up chairs.

House captains to lead a weekly Advent Prayer in class. Teacher to organise Advent prayer, distribute prayers and arrange a timetable for House Captains to follow.

Carmelites/Little Lites to decorate prayer areas for Advent (including communal areas).

 

Spring

Lead Epiphany prayer service. Linked to Carmelites/Little Lites identity.

Help create Carmelite Flower Garden display of good deeds. Explain to classes what they need to do.

Organise prayer intentions for Racial Justice Sunday (1.2.26). These will be read out in Monday’s (2.2.26) Gospel Assembly.

Lenten Appeal- Carmelites to choose. Create an explanation to share with classes explaining why they have chosen a particular charity. Suggest fundraising ideas for the different classes to do.

Lead stations of the Cross during Holy Week.

Welcome parents/set out chairs for the Holy Week performances.

Help with Lent fundraising for chosen charity.

 

Summer

Organise and lead prayers for Eastertide.

Support Marian Crowning ceremony and Grandparents Day.

Help with Pentecost celebration – prepare prayer space with symbols of the Holy Spirit.

Assist with First Holy Communion Mass

Lead prayers at Y6 Leavers Mass and Assembly.

Reflect on the year and write prayers of thanksgiving.
